The Terra Cotta Warriors!

While in Houston, on Saturday, September 26, 2009, we made sure to see the Terra Cotta Warriors, who are on display at a special exhibition in the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

The Houston Museum of Natural Science presents one of the most extraordinary archaeological finds of the 20th century, considered by many to be the Eighth Wonder of the World: terra cotta warriors from the tomb complex of China's First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Intended to protect him throughout eternity, the warriors stood guard over a vast necropolis commissioned by the Emperor when he was only 13 years old.

Marvel at more than 100 amazing objects, the largest display of terra cotta figures and tomb artifacts to travel to the U.S.

After the Work, the Noodles!

After Mary Lynne's presentation, we had a chance to visit with two old friends, Carol McDavid and Herman Kluge, at Jenni's Noodle House in Houston. Herman plays lead guitar for several Houston area bands including Cowjazz, The Hand Me Downs, and Moondance, and also sub guitar for Backbeat and the Rich Latimer Band!

On September 24, 2009, Mary Lynne and and Ginny Raska spoke at the Brazoria County Historical Museum about The Uncompromising Diary of Sallie McNeill, 1858-1867. They did a presentation on the diary, and signed copies of the book.

AJ's Birthday Party

AJ turned four-years-old on September 18, 2009. We had a party at the farm for AJ and one of his classmates, Michael, who was also celebrating his birthday. Here are some photos from the party:
