Texas Higher Education Law Conference

On March 31, 2008 and April 1, 2008, I attend the 12th Annual Texas Higher Education Law Conference at the University of North Texas. This is a wonderful regional conference that is focused on new cases and legislation that directly affects Texas colleges and universities. Together with the national conference, the Annual National Conference on Law & Higher Education, at Stetson University, the two conferences provide excellent annual updates of both the national and state-wide legal landscape in regard to higher education.

This is how they describe the event:

"As the premier conference on higher education law in Texas, the Twelfth Annual Texas Higher Education Law Conference will provide college and university professional in the public and private sector and attorneys who advise them the most current information on important developments in such areas as student legal issues, first amendment rights, technology dangers, FERPA and free speech areas to name a few. In addition to session on these more traditional topics, experts will look at emerging legal issues, such as research issues, construction concerns, housing issues and student debt. Approximately 300-350 faculty, staff, administrators and attorneys from colleges and universities across Texas and surrounding states attend the conference annually.
